Stanley, Idaho is a dog’s paradise! Us locals love dogs, and we love the opportunities that Stanley offers man’s best friend to experience freedom and joy in nature! So, we put together a list of some of our favorite pet friendly activities in Stanley, ID for your visit to our little slice of heaven!

HAVE A LAKE DAY:

If your dogs are anything like ours, then they will love the lakes that are near Stanley, Idaho. Here are our four favorite lakes, and some information that will help you with your pet friendly activity in Stanley, Idaho.

Redfish Lake:

lake

By far our personal favorite! During the peak summer months you will want to keep your dog on a leash, until you arrive at the dog beach (in between Redfish Lake Lodge and the North Shore Picnic Area), but once you arrive at the beach leashes are not required and you can throw as many sticks in the water as your heart desires!

There are many trails and a great boardwalk at the Redfish Visitors Center that make for the perfect stroll. All of the Redfish Lake Lodge Marina rentals are pet friendly, so feel free to bring your dog on a kayak, canoe, motorboat, or (if you are really adventurous) a stand up paddle board! Redfish Lake Lodge also provides dog friendly eating (and drinking) outside at the Lakeside Grill. On Wednesday, Friday and Sunday evenings (Father’s Day- Labor Day) the lodge provides free concerts on the lawn and you can dance the night away with ole Fido.

Our other favorite lakes include Stanley Lake, Alturas Lake and Pettit Lake! While none of these lakes provide any services, they do offer incredible views, trails, and beach space for you to explore around with your dog.

TAKE A HIKE:

All of the trails in the Sawtooth National Forest are pet friendly! Leashes are required July 1- Labor Day. Be sure to use proper etiquette while hiking with your dog. You will occasionally come across mountain bikers, and horse bike riders on some trails, so it is important to be alert and ready! Please bring bags to scoop the poop and help keep the forest clean!

RIDE YOUR BIKE:

If you dog is a bike dog, then Stanley is the place for you! There are many places to ride for all types of abilities. The Stanley to Redfish Lake Trail is a great path for beginners and experienced riders looking for incredible views. Elk Mountain Loop sits right outside of Stanley Lake and offers incredible views and single track (about 11 miles).
